Use Start menu and run msconfig as shown in the left.
You will see the "System Configuration Utility" Menu as shown below.
Click on Startup tab. Un-select some of the services that are not regularly used.
As an example in my case i have
VNC Server, MySQL server that i don't use on a daily basis.
Under the General tab select "Selective Startup".
